Welcome to my Web site!

Seven Trees is the name of my personal website, named after the seven sacred trees (out of nine) which I am fortunate enough to have in my garden or near to my house. It would have been eight, but I had to donate the oak tree to a friend who had the space for it to grow.

I am Cendriya, and have been a practising Pagan since the late 1980s, before realising that if I needed to describe who I am, then that description is that I am a Witch.

If you are interested, have a look further down this page for the books I am reading at the moment, mainly fiction because there is no harm in a bit of escapism.

I realised just recently (Ostara 2008), that I had not updated or reviewed my site in over a year. Hopefully, you will find the few changes so far of interest. I have had to take some pages away, because the size of the site now has caused problems with uploading, so some links may not work as intended, but hopefully will put the missing bits back in shortly.

If you have any thoughts on the content, send me some feedback, provided you can keep the comments constructive. Also, if you wanted to refer to one of the missing pages, let me know.

Books I am reading at the moment

I have tried to make these title 'hyperlinks' direct to Amazon.co.uk, so that it is easier for you to find these books if you wish to read them yourself. Just click on the title.

I've been reading a fair amount of fiction at the moment, given that I am also reading a fair amount of books on organic chemistry and pharmacology, as these are relevant to my MSc. Being a Witch is all about seeking balance, after all!

bullet "Women of the Otherworld" series by Kelley Armstrong
bulletSometimes it can be fun just trying a book (or in this case, the whole series) out, when you have never heard of the author. I have always liked the idea of 'kick-ass' heroines, but love the twist added by Ms Armstrong. There is Elena, a 21st century werewolf. Smart, sassy, and along with her PhD-qualified husband, described as the sort best found in a beach-volleyball game. But her husband can be a pain, she wanted to live a normal life before being bitten and is the sort of person everyone would love as a friend. My personal favourite though is Jaime, the forty-something necromancer, who falls in love with the leader of the werewolf pack. Best summed up by her being kidnapped again (it happens regularly). Paige, the witch, is described as voluptuous (yea! a heroine with a weight problem) etc.
bullet "Outlander" series by Diana Gabaldon
bulletWhat can I say, hunky hero and a fascinating supposition that standing stones are a gateway in time. The ultimate in 'what if' scenarios centred around the time of Bonnie Prince Charlie, the aftermath of Culloden and the events leading up to the American Revolution.
bullet "The Masks of God Vol I: Primitive Mythology" by Joseph Campbell
bulletNow this is hard going, but in terms of developing an understanding of the roots of paganism and other belief systems, it is worth the work. This is my second attempt to finish reading this book.
